The Importance of a Baby Stair Gate

April 16th, 2010 admin No comments

A baby stair gate is a safety item that no parent should do without when stairs, no matter how big or small, are present.

When you have a child you’re always going to want to make sure they are safe, and you’ll want to get all of the right tools and equipment that you will need in order to seek this end. When the baby is a newborn the hazards that they face will be almost unavoidable, and in many cases, parents can suffer dreadful losses if not extremely careful and prepared.

baby stair gateAs the child gets older they will become more mobile and therefore further hazards will appear that can cause them harm. Many of these can be prevented. To help keep your child safe, you will need to get all of the right protective items around the house in place as they begin to grow. A baby stair gate is certainly one of these.

One of the main hazards that the baby will face will be curiosity as a very young child. They will not understand the danger of falling and will climb around and crawl about dangerous spots in the house that could cause them harm if they fall down. It is important that a baby stair gate is put up every place in the house where such a thing could happen.

The main spot to place a gate would be at the top of the stairs. This will prevent the child from being able to fall down, and give you security knowing that as they get older and they start to crawl and walk around, they will not be able to stumble and trip down the stairs.

However, it is also very important to place a baby stair gate at the bottom of the steps as well. Often parents will neglect this spot and to their detriment and the detriment of the health of the child. The reason for this is because children can easily climb up the stairs one by one and then have a nasty fall when they get half way to the top or further up.

By placing a baby stair gate at the bottom of the stairs, this will prevent them from being able to even get up onto the first step. The possibility of having a nasty fall and really hurting themselves will be taken away.

There are also other items that need to be in place as the children grow older, as well as the baby stair gate to prevent them from falling. One of the most important of these will be child locks on all of the drawers and cabinets containing dangerous items that could hurt them. This will be especially important in somewhere like the kitchen where sharp objects such as knives will be kept in drawers.

It is also going to be important to have a baby playpen in which you can place a toddler when you are busy doing other tasks around the house. If you are supervising them then it’s fine to have them outside of the pen but if you are ever busy cooking or cleaning or anything else, you need to make sure that they are away from any harmful objects that could hurt them.

These, along with the baby stair gate, are some of the most important safety items you should have in the house. For more info, check out these other Adorababy resources:

When to Use Baby Safety Monitors

If you have a premature baby or a baby at risk for any kind of health problem then you may want to consider baby safety monitors. These are a great way to keep your baby safe. If your child is experiencing any respiratory problems or is at risk for breathing problems then this can help you get a good night’s rest.

The one I had was motion sensitive and vibrated after only 15 seconds of no movement from the baby. An alarm would sound after 20 seconds to alert me or anyone watching my son while I was out. I always felt safe knowing he was wearing this monitor. Having a child with health problems can be very scary for any parent.

The flexible rubber tip rested on his stomach to monitor his breathing. One thing I learned quickly is that if the tip lost contact for any reason then the monitor would sound even though nothing was wrong. You should follow all instructions to prevent this. If you have a lot of false alarms then you may not realize it when you have a real alarm.

At night I would put the safety monitor on him and then turn on the baby monitor in his room and mine. This way I was sure to hear if anything happened. Knowing I would be awoken if there was a problem let me sleep much better.

I really like the fact that it was cordless. I was very worried about having him on a monitor because I feared that he would tangle himself in the cords and be injured. He seemed to have enough problems without risking him strangling himself in cords.

A friend of mine saw one monitor like this that had sensor pads that you put under your baby’s crib mattress. I though these were really neat as well. This way you don’t have to disturb baby to put the monitor on it. Just place your baby in the crib and turn it on. I still felt safer with mine as I worried the pads wouldn’t be sensitive enough but I have since heard a lot of good things about these.

You can even buy a video monitor for your baby now. These have what is similar to a web cam that goes in the baby’s room and a monitor for your room. These are neat because you can see and hear your baby anytime you feel the need. No more waking baby up or sneaking in the room to look in on him to make sure he is alright.

You can also get the receivers that are handheld so you can carry them throughout the house with you. This allows you to do your daily tasks while baby sleeps and you don’t have to worry. Most you can even take outside with you.

Baby safety monitors let you rest easy and worry less. These also make for great gifts for new moms. Even if a baby is born perfectly healthy, mothers still worry and this can be a lifesaver.

When a woman finds out that she is pregnant, she will immediately start to worry about her child’s safety. Even before it is born, her mind will constantly be occupied by thoughts of the dangers that could hurt her child. From this has arisen an enormous industry that caters to baby safety equipment. Most of this is, of course, used once the child has been born to help them avoid dangers when they begin to grow up. However, there are some good products that you can use throughout the pregnancy, and one such product is the baby heartbeat monitor.

There a lot of benefits to using a baby heart monitor whilst you are pregnant. The most obvious benefit is that it allows mothers to keep an eye on their babies’ progress as they are growing up in the womb so that they are always up-to-date with their state of health.

You can get these monitors through a host of different online retailers or medical suppliers and they are not too expensive to get. It is a good idea to have a chat with your doctor before you go and get one and to discuss their pros and cons so you know exactly what you are getting. Some of these are more effective than others and you doctor will be able to advise you on the best ones to purchase.

Furthermore, you should always look to get baby monitors that are easy to use and whose results can easily be interpreted. Many of them on the market may be a little hard to get to grips with, but others are far more user friendly. Again, it is a good idea to chat with you doctor about the best ones to suit you.

Many women are concerned about their new babies. There are constantly horror stories around in the press that tell tragic tales which terrify expectant mothers. With high birth risks, getting a baby heart monitor will let you keep tabs on your child at all times.

When a baby begins to quiet down in the womb and stops moving around too much, many mothers can become concerned that there is a problem. In order to alleviate this concern, the baby monitor will be able to pick up the heartbeat to let the mother know that everything is okay.

Another good benefit of using these machines is that the mother and father will be able to do some further bonding with the child as well as sharing the joys and experiences of pregnancy with other people. A lot of these monitors allow not only the mother to hear the heartbeat, but others as well, and so anyone can be invited to share in the miracle of life as well.

Not only this, but it is also possible to make recordings of the heartbeat. These audio files can be made and then sent through email or other ways to friends and family in order to keep them updated with the health of your child as well.

How Does a Baby Heart Monitor Work?

January 11th, 2010 admin No comments

The baby industry is one that is booming and always will. One of, if not the, most important things during any of our lives is when we bring our children into this world. There has, therefore, been built an industry that caters to the requirements of bringing children into the world and ensuring their safety. This is, above all, the most important thing that we will accomplish in our lives. With all of the safety products in the market that will be very important to a new mother, getting a baby heart monitor may turn out to be the most important purchase of all.

The baby heart monitor that you get is used in order to check on the heartbeat of the baby when it is growing inside the womb. The heartbeat of the child will be able to be detected as soon as ten weeks into the pregnancy and from then on may provide an invaluable insight into the health of your unborn child.

It is very similar to the ‘doppler effect’ when you use the monitor. This effect is akin to a train’s whistle that becomes louder and louder the closer to you it gets. Once the train has passed by, the volume of the sound then begins to get lower as it gets further away. It is something we experience whenever we pass a car on the street.

The hear monitor will allow the mother to hear the frequency of their unborn child’s heartbeat, making it as if they are already there with them. The volume of the sound is able to be changed by the mother to suit what she is after. For anyone a little hard of hearing, therefore, they will be able to turn up the volume so they can hear it more clearly.

Doctors have already been using these monitors and not only for their primary purpose, but also for other medical examinations and procedures. The purpose of the monitor, of course, is to use ultrasound to locate things. The frequency is sent out, and bounces around from point to point. The calculation of this particular speed is what creates the sounds of the heartbeat.

This is the same sort of thing that is used with ships. They will use sonar to locate things underwater that might disrupt their path such as mountains and other underwater anomalies. This sonar is also used in order to track other ships around the oceans, by bouncing signals around that hit other ships.

When you go to the gynecologist, the sonar is more or less the same as the frequencies that are used for ultrasound tests. The sounds are bounced off of the baby and then an image is created from the sounds and displayed on screen.

The reason therefore, that parents are very fond of these devices is that they magnify the heartbeat of the baby for them to hear for themselves when they are away from the hospital. Not only is this very comforting for the parents to hear that their child’s heart is beating properly, but its a great way to feel close to your child before it is born.

Tips for Using Baby Gates

If you have a child or work with children daily then you already know how easily they can get away from you. You only have to turn your back for a second and they can be gone. Even if the child is just learning to crawl they can still be injured if proper precautions are not taken. If you child is currently learning to crawl or walk then now is the time to start using baby gates.

These gates can be placed almost anywhere and help prevent serious injuries to your baby. You can buy them in an assortment of sizes and most are expandable to fit in any doorway or area you need them to. Placed at the top or bottom of staircases they can prevent falls that could hurt or even kill a small child. They can also prevent your child from getting into rooms that may not be safe for them.

When using these gates you should keep a few things in mind. Babies should never be left unattended. These are only in place to help prevent accidents. The best prevention method is close monitoring of your child’s activities. No matter what precautions we take as parents accidents can still happen. For this reason you should still keep a close eye on children at all times.

Baby gates are only one safety measure that should be taken. If you baby is playing in an area you should be sure that area is safe. This means all electrical outlets should be covered. Any furniture with sharp edges or corners should be removed or foam padding may be used. The area should also be free of any cords or anything your baby can get tangled in. Also be sure there are no chocking hazards around.

If there is a fire place or heater you will want to make certain your baby can’t get to that either. You should also be aware that babies can sometimes cause injuries to themselves by turning furniture or large objects like televisions over on them. A truly safe play area should be free of any hazard especially if you are busy and may not be watching your child constantly.

These gates can also be used outside or to prevent your child from getting outside. They can also be used in combination with things like baby monitors so you can see or hear your baby while you may be working in another area. The videos monitors are nice to have if you will be in another room while your baby is playing.

Baby gates can help make child care a little easier for all of us busy moms. There are times when we have to make the best choice we can. If you are cooking then obviously your baby shouldn’t be near the stove so you may have no other choice but to let them play in an adjoining room.

The baby products available will help you feel secure in knowing your baby is safe. These also make for wonderful shower gifts. Check out the products available online or at a store near you.
